The world’s largest cruise ship, the Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas, officially launched early this year. With the ability to carry up to 10,000 people, 20 complete decks, 1,198 feet long, and weighing 250,800 gross tons, the Icon of the Seas is officially (for now!) the world’s largest cruise ship. The ship launched from Miami and will sail eastern and western Caribbean routes, with stops in St. Kitts, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Honduras, Costa Maya, and Cozumel, depending on the trip itinerary. All trips will include a complimentary day trip to the Royal Caribbean’s exclusive Bahamas island, Perfect Day at CocoCay too.
The Icon of the Seas isn’t just the largest cruise ship
While the size of the Icon of the Seas is the first thing most people notice, this ship has some truly incredible activities available for all passengers. First, the largest cruise ship water park, Category Six, has six amazing waterslides and an aqua park for the younger kids. But the waterpark and aqua park aren’t the only water attractions. There are seven pools on board the ship, including the largest pool at sea and a swim-up bar.
Water activities aren’t the only way to have fun on the Icon of the Seas. The ship has a unique design and is split into eight distinct neighborhoods with separate activities and attractions to explore. For example, the Royal Promenade neighborhood takes up two decks. It includes an indoor mall with shopping opportunities, fine dining and drinking establishments and the Dueling Pianos, the Royal Caribbean’s first double pianist bar.
The Icon of the Seas is designed for family fun
This ship is designed for family fun, not just at the Category Six waterpark. There are plenty of incredible activities for the whole family, especially in the Thrill Island neighborhood on the ship. There’s rock climbing at Adrenaline Peak, which lets eager climbers get in some of the best views of the ship if they can make it to the top. There’s also the Lost Dunes mini golf course and the Sports Court, which is full of different activities to choose from, including basketball, volleyball, pickleball, and even dodgeball. All of these activities are included in your admission to the ship!
Adults can get in on the fun abroad the Icon of the Seas
Even with the family-friendly atmosphere and activities on board the ship, there are still plenty of activities for adults, from the incredible fine dining options to the Cloud 17 adults-only pool. There is also a jazz club and casino that features 30 table games and 370 slot machines!
